IP EXPO 2012 Attracts Proprietary and Open Source Vendors

IP EXPO, which is one of the fastest IT infrastructure events in the UK, will be held on October 17 to 18 in Earls Court Two. Like in previous years, some of the best and brightest in the IT industry will be present in this year’s IP event as keynote speakers. For instance, “Autonomy Founder Mike Lynch Kicks of Key Programme at IP EXPO 2012.” The article gives us more details about the two-day event:

The keynote speakers are part of 260-strong seminar programme that will feature the latest solutions for IP Networks, Wireless, Storage, Virtualization, Cloud Computing and Security. Virtual Security, Big Data and BYOD will represent key themes at this year’s show as the IT department continues to grow and change.

…IT heavyweights Google, Dell, Oracle, VMware, Motorola and Microsoft will have a major presence at this year’s IP EXPO alongside emerging manufacturers, ZTE and Huawei.

What is of interest is how the exhibit highlights many open source projects that have evolved to become the most important and powerful technologies in the last decade. Probably the best example is Apache Hadoop. Its co-creator, Doug Cutting, will present how integrating Hadoop into your IT infrastructure can help you derive immense business value from Big Data.

While not included in this year’s line-up of exhibitors, another good example of a powerful open source technology with many applications is Lucene/Solr. In fact, many commercial vendors like LucidWorks use it as a base for their products. Because of it, LucidWorks Search and LucidWorks Big Data are highly scalable and secure yet cost-effective at the same time.
