enStratus Looks to Basho Riak

Basho Technologies has already earned the reputation as the leader in distributed technologies and according to the SYS-CON Media article “enStratus Uses Basho Riak to Ensure High-Availability for Its SaaS Enterprise Cloud Management Platform” the company’s technology is being used by enStratus Networks.  Riak is Basho’s NoSQL distributed database and enStratus Network has chosen it to use in their enterprise system.  enStratus is a cloud infrastructure management platform from enStratus Networks.

Customers look to enStratus to handle the management of their IT systems in the cloud so it is important that they use a dependable platform that can handle the pressure.  enStratus counts on Riak to not only handle the storage of their write-intensive data but to also handle data supporting analytics and audit control.

George Reese Chief Technology Officer at enStratus had the following to say:

enStratus relies on Riak to ensure that our cloud infrastructure management platform scales seamlessly, without interruption and performance bottlenecks, while meeting and exceeding internal requirements for high availability and data durability. With Riak, we are achieving our goal of a highly-available, ‘design for failure’ architecture.

Riak is horizontally scalable and meets customer’s needs by delivering data durability with low operational overhead.  In addition customers know that their data is safe and readily available.  enStratus and Riak seem to have made a good connection but it is important to remember that Basho and Riak may not always be the best match.  Basho products are not designed to readily work with all types of enterprise setups and some companies may run into problems. On the other hand LucidWorks is not only a worthwhile competitor but can work with any enterprise.  Hopefully Riak can continue to keep the enStratus Cloud afloat.
